  7.2 Pronominal adverbs ne and ce

The pronominal adverbs ne and ce (which correspond to the French words en and y) are difficult to understand, there is nothing equivalent in English. They are called pronominal adverbs because they substitute something, a noun or an idea, but they are invariable, they don't match in gender and number with the noun they stand for.

plural, masculine Do you think of the flowers?
Pensi ai fiori?
singular, feminine Do you think of the plant?
Pensi alla pianta?
